The NEW Nijiya Market!

the original Nijiya Market that opened in Puck's Alley on University blew my mind when i first went there. Japanese products galore! not as cheap as say Marukai Market, or Shirokiya, but, they did have a ton of cool products.

NOW they have another store. Bigger with more stuff! Located behind Ala Moana shopping center, they take the place of the old BlockBuster (R.I.P.). here are some of the products they offer!

if you want a bigger view of the pictures - CLICK ON PICTURES TO ENLARGE!

various fresh fish: here you'll see Sole, Menpachi, and Herring Roe on seaweed

fresh produce: large gobo stalks - aka burdock root, organic kabocha pumpkin, and trumpet mushrooms

BENTOS!: they have okonomiyaki with udon or soba, tataki style waygyu beef, and TONS of different types of bento

Breads: filled sweet breads are popular in Japan, and decorative too! here you'll see a bear filled with chocolate, a bunny filled with apple, and an elephant filled with custard. Kawaii desu ne!

Snacks: so delicious! here is various fish type snacks, squid snacks, and chip type snacks

Other products: they have so much stuff.... a takoyaki pan to make your own at home, hypochondriac masks for you germaphobes, and gold leaf specifically to place on fish... wow

Weird stuffs: and here are the more "strange" products i found.... seasoned jelly fish (i actually like this, so its not weird for me), an unidentifiable chocolate type snack (i can only assume), and Japanese condoms named "Kimono" (i laughed pretty heartily at this one).

take a look next time you're in the area, and don't forget to pick up a bento!!!
